Adult Dose

Indication: Mild Hypothyroidism
Condition: Normal
Dose: Oral – 1.7 mcg/kg or 100-125 mcg
Frequency: once daily
Note: Not to exceed 300 mcg/day
Indication: Mild Hypothyroidism
Age: greater than 50 years (or less than 50 years with cardiovascular disease)
Dose: Oral – 25-50 mcg
Frequency: once daily
Note: Usual initial dose; may adjust dose by 12.5-25 mcg every 6-8 weeks

Child Dose

Indication: Hypothyroidism
Age: 1-3 months
Dose: Oral – 10-15 mcg/kg/day
Note: by mouth (oral). Use lower starting dose (25 mcg/day) if patient at risk of cardiac failure; if initial serum T4 lower than 5 mcg/dL begin treatment at higher dose (50 mcg/day)
Indication: Hypothyroidism
Age: 3-6 months
Dose: Oral – 8-10 mcg/kg/day or 25-50 mcg/day
Note: by mouth (oral)
