Adult Dose

Clinical InformationAdministration Information
Indication: Antidote for methotrexate toxicity
Age: Adult
Dose: Oral Solution – 15 mg
Frequency: every 6 hours
Duration: for 10 doses
Note: Starting 24 hours after the start of methotrexate infusion. Continue administration until serum levels of methotrexate is less than 0.05 micromolar. May also be given via intramuscular/intravenous injection.
Indication: Folate-deficient megaloblastic anaemia
Age: Adult
Dose: Oral Solution – 15 mg
Frequency: once daily

Child Dose

Clinical InformationAdministration Information
Indication: Cerebral folate transport deficiency (FOLR1-CFTD)
Age: Pediatric
Dose: Oral – 1 to 2 mg/kg/day and adjust to the maximum recommended dosage of 8.5 mg/kg/day
Frequency: Once daily or in divided doses up to 6 times per day
Note: Maximum dose: 8.5 mg/kg/day (weight less than 40 kg); 330 mg/day (weight 40 kg or more)
Indication: Reduce methotrexate toxicity
Age: Pediatric
Dose: Oral – 10 mg/m2
Frequency: Every 6 hours
Note: Maximum dose: 25 mg

  • Can be taken with or without food
  • Take with water
