Adult Dose

Indication: Hyperlipidaemia, Bile acid-induced diarrhoea
Age: Adult
Dose: Oral – 4 g
Frequency: once every 12-24 hours
Note: Increase gradually over greater than 1 month intervals.
Indication: Hyperlipidaemia, Bile acid-induced diarrhoea
Age: Adult
Condition: Maintenance
Dose: Oral – 8-16 g/day
Frequency: divided every 12 hours
Note: By mouth. Not to exceed 24 g/day.

Child Dose

Clinical InformationAdministration Information
Indication: Hyperlipidaemia, Bile acid-induced diarrhoea
Age: greater than 6 years
Dose: Oral – 240 mg/kg/day
Frequency: divided every 8-12 hours
Note: generally not to exceed 8 g/day
Indication: Pruritus associated with partial biliary obstruction or primary biliary cirrhosis
Age: greater than 6 years
Dose: Oral – 240 mg/kg daily
Frequency: in divided doses
Administration
  • Mix with water or juice
  • Don't take dry powder
