Adult Dose

Indication: Adjunct in partial seizures with or without secondary generalisation; myoclonic seizures (with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy); primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures (with idiopathic generalised epilepsy)
Age: Adult
Dose: Oral – Initially, 500 mg
Frequency: twice daily
Note: Initially on the 1st day; Adjust dose in increments or decrements of 500 mg twice daily at 2-4 week intervals; Maximum: 1,500 mg twice daily.
Indication: Monotherapy for partial seizures with or without secondary generalisation
Age: Adult
Dose: Oral – Recommended starting dose is 250 mg
Frequency: twice daily
Note: Increased to an initial therapeutic dose of 500 mg twice daily after 2 weeks; May further increase by 250 mg twice daily every 2 weeks depending upon response; Maximum: 1,500 mg twice daily.

Child Dose

Dose: Oral – Initially, 14 mg/kg
Frequency: daily
Note: may adjust in increments of 14 mg/kg at 2-week intervals. Maximum: 42 mg/kg daily

Age: greater than 6 months
Dose: Oral – Initially, 20 mg/kg
Frequency: daily
Note: may adjust in increments of 20 mg/kg at 2-week intervals. Maximum: 60 mg/kg daily

Renal Dose

Condition: Renal impairment: End-stage renal disease patients undergoing dialysis
Dose: Loading dose – 750 mg
Note: Followed by 500-1,000 mg once daily; supplemental dose of 250-500 mg after dialysis
