Adult Dose

Clinical InformationAdministration Information
Indication: Iron-deficiency anaemia
Age: Adult
Dose: Intravenous or deep Intramuscular – 25-100 mg
Frequency: once daily as needed
Note: Not to exceed 100 mg (2 mL) per day. Total dose (ml) = 0.0442 (desired haemoglobin - observed haemoglobin) x Lean body weight(kg) + (0.26 x Lean body weight(kg)). A test dose of 0.5 ml should be given and observe patient for at least 1 hour for signs for hypersensitivity. Total dose may be given in divided doses on a daily or twice weekly basis via intramuscular injection into the upper outer quadrant of the buttock; may also be given intravenously by total-dose infusion or as divided injection.
Indication: Blood loss
Age: Adult
Dose: Intravenous or deep Intramuscular – Total iron dose in mg = blood loss (mL) x Hematocrit
Note: A test dose of 0.5 ml should be given and observe patient for at least 1 hour for signs for hypersensitivity.
