Precautions include monitoring for central nervous system depression, such as somnolence and dizziness, which may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. It should be discontinued gradually over at least one week to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established, while elderly patients generally require dose reductions due to age-related renal decline.
