Adult Dose

Indication: Osteoporosis
Dose: Subcutaneous Injection – 60 mg
Frequency: once every 6 months
Note: Supplement with calcium 1000 mg/day and vitamin D 400 international units/day
Indication: Aromatase Inhibitor-Induced Bone Loss
Condition: Women with breast cancer
Dose: Subcutaneous Injection – 60 mg
Frequency: once every 6 months

Child Dose

Indication: Giant cell tumor of bone
Age: 13 years or older and having reached skeletal maturity
Dose: Subcutaneous - 120 mg
Frequency: Every 4 weeks
Note: with additional 120 mg doses on day 8 and day 15 of the first month

Renal Dose

Note: Based on available safety and efficacy data in the elderly, no dosage adjustment is required in patients with renal impairment.
Condition: Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 mL/minute) or receiving dialysis

Note: Patients are at greater risk of developing hypocalcemia. Adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D is important.
Administration
  • Give SC in upper arm, thigh, or abdomen
  • Don't inject IV or IM
