Sertaconazole is administered intravaginally as a single-dose suppository or ovule, preferably at bedtime. Patients should be in a supine position and insert the medication deeply into the vagina. If symptoms persist, a second dose may be administered after seven days. Hands must be washed before and after application. Concomitant use of diaphragms or condoms is contraindicated due to the risk of latex rupture, and local spermicides should be avoided. Treatment should not be performed during menstruation to ensure maximum efficacy. While systemic absorption is minimal, use during pregnancy or lactation requires clinical confirmation of diagnosis and specialist oversight.
